Sensors (GPS + Compass)

Vektor Autopilot runs the ArduPilot (Rover/Sub) firmware, so any sensor supported by these platforms should function correctly. Sensors must be connected via UART or I²C, as CAN is not supported.

The most common configuration is a Ublox M10Q GPS module combined with a 5883-series compass. This setup offers a reasonable balance between cost and performance, enabling good autonomous navigation with a positional error of approximately 2 meters maximum. These receivers are typically priced below €40.

For improved precision—such as when attitude data is routed to a dynamic positioning controller or when a more precise heading and positioning are required—a system equipped with at least a Ublox F9P receiver and a high-quality antenna is recommended. For the compass, we advise using a sensor based on the RM3100 chip. These components typically start at around €500 and above.
